The bushfire season is quickly approaching, and now is the perfect time to make sure you are ready.
- Fire breaks – did you know that fire breaks must be a minimum of 3m wide? All fire breaks MUST be compliant by 31 October 2024.
- Restricted burning – our restricted burning period commences on 1 October 2024 - 28 October 2024. If you are planning on burning during this time you must notify the shire and obtain a free burning permit.
- Prohibited burning – commencing on 29 October 2024 through to 17 February 2025, all burning is strictly prohibited – this includes open cooking and campfires.
- Are you on the Shire’s harvest and vehicle movement ban SMS list? All plant operators during harvest must be on our notification list – give us a call at the Shire (9631 1202) to be added, or email dowshire@dowerin.wa.gov.au
